Connecticut-based indie rock band Crag Mask is made up of Zackery Abramo (vox-guitar), Gabriel Sciarra (guitar), Phil Lord (bass), Jason Rule (drums). Together, they make distinctively angular mix of surreal post-punk and post-hardcore. Today, the band surprise dropped their eagerly anticipated new album Bend a day early. It is the follow up to their also dope 2016 album, Loom.
To celebrate its release, the band will perform at the State House with CT acts Reduction Plan and Space Camp, with touring act Nicole Dollanganger. The event was booked by Tiny Box Booking. Event page here.
Bend is exactly what one might expect in a sophomore record, an album that retains the qualities that make the band unique while also sonically expanding on the first in many ways. Crag Mask’s gloomy sound still unfolds into heavy hitting sections that groove and bend, but also incorporates synths and open space, creating new dynamics we haven’t necessarily seen with the band before, all while maintaining a catchiness that acts as a thread through their non-traditionally structured tunes.
After Crag Mask plays New Haven, they will be going out on a tour with Early Lover of Mankind. Check the tour dates below:
