CT filmmaker RJ LaRussa has just announced the official premiere of his latest film Donnée, a fictional narrative portraying the Connecticut DIY music scene through the telling of a failed relationship between former bandmates (played by Sephrina Martinez-Hall and Paolo Celentano). The premiere will take place on Friday, November 9th in Hartford. Event page and more details here.
The 23-minute film was filmed at a bunch of venues recognizable to any DIY dweller and features a wildly impressive soundtrack including Hovel, Jelani Sei, The Planet You, Cheem, Bat House, Queen Moo, and more.
LaRussa comments on his work: “Set against Connecticut’s DIY music scene, Donnée weaves fiction and documentary through surrealism into a ‘melodoc’ about punk music, breakups, self perception, and cigarettes”.
