CT filmmaker RJ LaRussa has just announced the debut screening of his latest film Donnée, a fictional narrative portraying the Connecticut DIY music scene through the telling of a failed relationship between former bandmates (played by Sephrina Martinez-Hall and Paolo Celentano). The 23-minute film was filmed at a bunch of venues recognizable to any DIY dweller and features a wildly impressive soundtrack including Hovel, Jelani Sei, The Planet YouCheemBat House, Queen Moo, and more.

“Set against Connecticut’s DIY music scene, Donnée weaves fiction and documentary through surrealism into a ‘melodoc’ about punk music, breakups, self perception, and cigarettes,” says LaRussa in his announcement of the screening.

The debut screening will take place July 28th at The Dial in Hartford. A number of experimental filmmakers will also be featured, including Rosy Warren, Hugh Hopkins, and Neil Daigle-Orians. Event page here.
