CT filmmaker RJ LaRussa has just announced the debut screening of his latest film Donnée, a fictional narrative portraying the Connecticut DIY music scene through the telling of a failed relationship between former bandmates (played by Sephrina Martinez-Hall and Paolo Celentano). The 23-minute film was filmed at a bunch of venues recognizable to any DIY dweller and features a wildly impressive soundtrack including Hovel, Jelani Sei, The Planet You, Cheem, Bat House, Queen Moo, and more.
“Set against Connecticut’s DIY music scene, Donnée weaves fiction and documentary through surrealism into a ‘melodoc’ about punk music, breakups, self perception, and cigarettes,” says LaRussa in his announcement of the screening.
The debut screening will take place July 28th at The Dial in Hartford. A number of experimental filmmakers will also be featured, including Rosy Warren, Hugh Hopkins, and Neil Daigle-Orians. Event page here.
