Low Ceilings is the indie folk project of Windsor, CT singer-songwriter Ben Mueller. Following a fairly prolific stream of releases in the last few years, Low Ceilings has shared its newest release, the Least Favored Painting EP.
While Mueller likes to publicize his project as a handful of “love songs and diss tracks”, Least Favored Painting suggests a little more depth to his songwriting with extended metaphors, free associative rhyme patterns, and less obvious chord progressions–all filtered through Mueller’s composed and carefree heard-it-all, seen-it-all tenor. Throughout its almost beachside strummings, there is a weary urban beat mysticism that permeates its mood, weighing down what could be easily sunny pop songs with something more literary, wistful, and vibey.
Low Ceilings will be playing Silk City Coffee in Manchester, CT on May 18th. Event Page here.
