Vern Matz is the indie-folk trio of Yale students Danny Belgrad, Michael Lituchy and Noah Silvestry. Earlier this fall, the band released “Trampolines”, the first preview of an upcoming EP that will be released in January.
“Trampolines” is a promising introduction to the band: easy on the ears, but decorated with subtle textures and wide-eyed emotional affectations. What starts with a gentle acoustic strum and coming-of-age one liner from Belgrad eventually unfolds into a warm atmosphere of sun soaked reverb, anthemic drums, and twinkling piano. By the end of the song, it’s nostalgic introspection expands outwards into something far more technicolor than its deep crimson artwork suggests.
Vern Matz will be opening for Tokyo Police Club at The Ballroom on December 7th. Event page here.
“Trampolines” has been added to the CT Scramble 2017 Spotify Playlist.
