New Britain grunge-folk band City Streets Country Roads have released new single “Sun and Water” as a preview of their upcoming record …And the World Turned Ever So Slowly, due out mid-March.
While previous CSCR releases have proven as an earthy solo outlet for songwriter Jason Karwowski’s world-weary tenor, “Sun and Water” is the first taste of City Streets the band–now complete with a show stealing saxophone that bestows the music with previously untapped swagger.
A whiskey soaked stumble of a song, “Sun and Water” captures a sinking feeling of dread and dissociation between one’s self and the physical world that keeps one grounded in reality. Playing off like somewhat of a title track to the upcoming album, Karwowski foreshadows with an ominous refrain: “slowing down / feel the world is spinning ’round / take my hand” that sounds more like a sinister invitation than a plea for help.
